I
posted the following article at 5:15 PM Central Standard Time, October
20, 2011, refuting Harold Camping's prediction that the world would end
on Otober 21, 2011. In fact, I was right, and he was wrong. I do not
label Harold Camping as a false prophet, but I do label him as a false
teacher. He has made repeated predictions about events at the end of
the age, but he has failed every time. He has done so because he has
not used a literal, grammatical, historical hermeneutic (method of
interpretation). He has foisted an imaginative but highly speculative
(and obviously erroneous) numerical interpretation of the Scriptures
which led him to make bizarre predictions. Worst of all, he stated that
as of May 21, 2011, no one was going to be saved. That is heretical.
I am gratified that Harold Camping has admitted his error, apologized, and, commendably, resigned from his position.
As of November 2, 2011, one can go to the home page of Family Radio
and click on "Message from Mr. Camping." That will activate an audio
message from Mr. Camping admitting to his error and apologizing for a
statement he made.
There follows the article I wrote on October 20, 2011:
The End of the World October 21, 2011
Harold Camping has predicted the End of the World on October 21, 2011. Here are his own words:
"Thus, we must realize that October 21, 2011 will be the final day of this earth’s existence."
On the basis of God's Word, I guarantee you WHAT MR. CAMPING HAS PREDICTED WILL NOT HAPPEN!
As I understand it, this is what God's Word says about the end of the world: "The Universe Destroyed"
Are you presently a follower of Harold Camping?
If,
after October 21, 2011 has come and gone all over the world, and Harold
Camping is wrong, and I am right, I urge you to stop listening to him
and start searching for the truth.
WordExplain
employs a literal, grammatical, historical method of
interpreting Scriptures. Harold Camping, on the other hand, repeatedly
spiritualizes what the Bible says. He conjures up his own idea of what
numbers must mean, for example. Clearly, he has been wrong time and
time again.
WordExplain
is a good place to start if you are searching for a literal,
non-metaphorical understanding of the truth of the Bible.
Here
is a good page to use as a reference point for the truth about the
future, as I understand the truth to be from God's Word, based on a
literal, grammatical, historical method of interpretation:
I
do not claim to have "a corner on truth" concerning what the Bible
teaches about the future. Nor do I claim to be the only authorized
teacher on Bible prophecy.
Here is a link to other Bible teachers who believe as I do concerning what the Bible teaches about the future. They would use the same method of interpretation that I do.
Sincerely, and with humility,
James T. Bartsch, WordExplain.com
