Light-travel time: a problem for the big bang by Robert Newton "The ‘distant starlight problem’ is sometimes used
as an argument against biblical creation. People who believe in
billions
of years often claim that light from the most distant galaxies could
not
possibly reach earth in only 6,000 years. However, the
light-travel–time
argument cannot be used to reject the Bible in favour of the big
bang, with its billions of years. This is because the big bang
model also has a light-travel–time problem." Go to the article: Man, fossils, and time The Dating Game. Appendix to Marvin Lubenow, Bones of Contention (Grand Rapids, 1992, 1st ed.), pp. 247-266. This entry indicates the incredibly subjective and unscientific nature of radiometric dating as it is practiced by scientists and paleontologists. Opening Paragraph: "A very popular myth is that the radioactive dating methods are an
independent confirmation of the geologic time scale and the concept of
human evolution. This myth includes the idea that the various dating
methods are independent of one another and hence act as controls. The
methods appear so
impressive that many creationists have accepted them as evidence that
the earth is very old. Perhaps the best way to expose this myth for what
it is—science fiction—is to present a case study of the dating of the
East African KBS Tuff strata and the famous fossil KNM-ER 1470, as
recorded in the scientific journals, especially the British journal Nature." Concluding Paragraph: "The pigs won. In the ten-year controversy over the dating of one of the most important human fossils ever discovered, the pigs won. The pigs won over the elephants. The pigs won over K-Ar dating. The pigs won over 40Ar-39Ar dating. The pigs won over fission-track dating. They won over paleomagnetism. The pigs took it all. But in reality, it wasn’t the pigs that won. It was evolution that won. In the dating game, evolution always wins." WordExplain note: Few lay people will have the patience to wade through the semi-technical data cited by Lubenow. For thosee who might wish a much quicker explanation of some of the same data discussed above, namely, the Potassium-Argon (K-Ar) dating fiasco, see the following video by Chris Johnson, entitled, Radiometric Dating Flaws (Potassium-Argon). The video is not professionally done, and for that we beg the reader's pardon. Nevertheless, Mr. Johnson has a point and he cites evidence. Radiometric dating is extremely subjective.
