Learning about the Future to Live Better Today

"For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will." Matthew 24:21

Introduction to the Event the Bible Calls the Tribulation

Sandwiched in between the Rapture and Jesus’ Second Coming in Power is the event the New Testament calls the Tribulation, or more specifically, the “Great Tribulation.” “Tribulation” means “trouble.”

For example, Jesus said, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will” (Matthew 24:21, JTB).

The Apostle John was taken up into a virtual tour of heaven and shown the future. He saw an innumerable host of people up in heaven praising God and the Lamb (Christ) (Rev. 7:9-12). One of the elders told John that these people were believers in Jesus who had been killed during the Tribulation and now found themselves in heaven (Rev. 7:13-17). Specifically, this elder told John that these believers had come “out of the great tribulation” (Rev. 7:17).

Who were these believers? Were they Church Age believers? Or were they people who became believers during the Tribulation? Stay tuned...
